Some very interesting news coming out about 2013 high profile recruit Julius Randle and his involvement with the University of Kentucky. Recently, Randle spoke with a local area newspaper and discussed a conversation that he had with Kentucky head coach John Calipari. He asked Calipari for some advice about his game, and Calipari delivered.
Randle wanted to know from Calipari how he looked and what he could do better on the basketball court. Randle asked Calipari how to attack better off of the dribble, and coach gave him some feedback that he took to heart the very next game. Coach also said Randle seemed to catch the ball with just one hand, a lot. The next game, Randle was catching the ball with two hands and being stronger with his handling.
The fact that Julius Randle is already building such a positive coach-player relationship with John Calipari is nothing but good news for the near future of Kentucky basketball. And the fact that Randle is coachable, and able to gather and use the information proves he can be an asset to the program.
The most mysterious recruit of all time as made another digital footprint and I was able to track it down. Tony Trocha, a Columbian native has recently released more information about his recruitment through his advisor. Kentucky notably has said they would be able to accomodate Trocha when he is eligible to play in December. Other schools in the mix, are: UCLA, Florida, Texas A&M, and Rice. It will be interesting to see if Kentucky is really still in the mix for Trocha.
On a final note, the incoming freshman of this years team seem to be bonding well. A new picture of all of the new guys (including the transfers) is floating around the Twitter-sphere. Many of them retweeting the picture to their followers and showing a small sense of brotherhood extremely early. Great sign for things to come this season.
