Noel & Cauley-Stein named among “Best Rim Protecting Defenders”

CBS Sports is at it again with another list. This time, they are focusing on the defense. A couple of Wildcats make the list for “Best Rim Protecting Defenders”. Here’s what they say about the young ‘Cats:
|
WILLIE CAULEY-STEIN
C | 7-0 | FR | KENTUCKY
“He’s long, athletic and can block shots and also guard on the perimeter. He’s also got an element of toughness to his game. The kid played football. He’s got to be tough. In two years, I think he can be the premier post defender in the country.” NERLENS NOEL
C | 6-10 | FR | KENTUCKY
“He’s a freak. The best shot-blocker I have ever seen in high school. I’m not sure how much he’ll score, but that doesn’t matter. He’ll immediately be one of the most important and intimidating defensive players in the nation because of his length, athleticism and timing.” |
Let’s all remember that all these “lists” that you see for the preseason are sometimes laughable. Everyone has an opinion, and some have really off-the-wall ideas. These lists and rankings hardly mean anything. For example, CBS Sports also did another list for “Top Shooters” in the country. Out of the 50 players listed, no Kentucky Wildcats. What happened to Kyle Wiltjer? I would think he’d be at least in the Top-50. However, these things are fun to see and are able to highlight key players and teams for the season. As always, Go Big Blue!
