A peek at a championship ring

Eloy Vargas tweeted a photo montage of his recently-received championship ring. And by pretty much every account, it’s absurdly bland, boring, and disappointing.
Keep in mind, this ring is the one awarded by the NCAA, and in all likelihood players will receive a much better looking piece from the school in the near future. No matter how ugly the ring might be, it never ceases to amaze me that Eloy Vargas is wearing it.
For comparison, here’s a look at the 1998 team’s unofficial ring.
I expect this year’s, when we finally see them, will make that one look appropriately old and outdated.
