A closer look at the 2012-13 basketball squad

In case you missed the release of Kentucky’s official 2012-13 basketball roster photograph, here’s your first glimpse at the entire team together in uniform. They might not be the heroes of last year, but they still look very good.

In regards to observations, Kyle Wiltjer looks like he’s put on a lot of upper body muscle. He weighed a surprising 239 last year, but I’m willing to bet a lot of fat has been traded for muscle. He and Alex Poythress look like they’re adequately developed and might be bigger forces inside than many were expecting. Willie Cauley-Stein comes across as a beast of a man. Noel lacks the mass of his fellow big men, but then again, so did Anthony Davis and he was okay. There’s not much to say about the guards, other than the fact that Brian Long was seemingly squished into the photo at the last moment.
